In this months Kontakt showcase Ross demonstrates some libraries from Atom Hub, Soundethers and Hideaway Studio
Constellation: Apollo 203A was in many ways a celebration of yet another successful resurrection of an old classic saved from the grave… This time it was a 1976 Polymoog model 203A most definitely rescued from a fate worse than death!… she could have become a coffee table! Well ok, maybe not…
“Dream Fields” is a huge collection of playable pads and atmospheres focused on fractured, lonesome glitches, nostalgic, organic moods, field recordings and subtle ASMR-like noisescapes.
It's a world of small noises and distant radio signals in a lush and breathy tonal fog, in between nature and technology.
All sounds have a different LFO pulse programmed on the Mod Wheel, and six effects to trigger on the fly (from F6 to A#6, Lo-Fi, Skreamer, Distortion, Saturation, Jump, Chorus).
MOTION is a library conceived for adding flavor and depth to your tracks, perfect for any composing needs, like second lines with reverberated keys, tasty pads, soundscapes, field recording atmospheres.
You have a total of 230 programmed sounds to explore, transform, combine, create your own.
All sound are assigned to the Mod Wheel for complex modern modulations.
It can be used in crossing genres, like Ambient to Downtempo, Cinematic to Electronica, Chillwave to Post-Dubstep, Liquid DnB to New Age, Ethereal Meditation Music to IDM and Experimental.
Please Note: The FULL version of Kontakt 5.8.1 or above is required. Not compatible with Kontakt Player
You have these memories inside of you within living memory... The journey you have set off for a long time ago still has not come to an end. You remember endless acres of fields, sleepy meadows, callow woods and your own footsteps in horizonless greenness. The presence of "something", what has guided you here, something, promising to uncover the Mystery. This all awaited there... beyond misty horizon disappearing in the distance. Is this all real ?
Or is it just a dream ? Now it feels like you have been there, as if it really happened.
But when ? You can recollect the smells, you can hear the sounds of insects in the wet grass, you remember nights under cold stars and... the feeling of being close to the resolution. You can recollect that atmosphere, you can almost hear gentle, spilled, sustaining tones, resonating in glittering blaze over the lost horizon...
Inspired by the vibe of the novels "Lost Horizon" by James Hilton and "Forest" and "Roadside Picnic" by borthers Strugatsky, I have sampled my trusty old Yamaha RGX 721 DG electric guitar to create gentle clean samples proper for looping and dreaming.
Have you ever dreamed about hearing sounds of the microbial world? Let me introduce my library to you. I often dream about how some non-audible phenomenas would sound like. Microworld seen under a microscope is one of them. Knowing, that hearing bacterias, or enzymes is not easy, I decided to use my imagination to create those sounds. I closed my eyes and started to look for that curious world, whose gigantic constructions were... we ourselves.
Sounds were escaping... until I gathered four of my hardware samplers and synths and re-created what I have heard. On GUI you will find controls for chorus, phaser, flanger, delay and other FX. I have created 4 strangely named screens dedicated to different groups of effects (they are "translated" in the help line of Kontakt). But most of all, you will discover 4 categories of instruments - Bacterias (backgrounds), Amino Acids (longer tonal elements), Enzymes (short tonal elements) and Viruses (rhythmic elements) ready to be combined into multis instantly reminiscent of bizzare soundscapes of microbial world.
The world, which has got its own sound now...
Around 30 instruments were captured and I’ve tried to draw upon a number of basic synthesis methods including divide down/formant, classic subtractive, DCO, digital FM and additive as well as capturing some tube synth textures from three vintage synths.
Synths included the DK Synergy and ultra rare Mulogix Slave-32, Rhodes Chroma, Rev.4 Octave Voyetra Eight, Farfisa Syntorchestra, ProphetVS, Elka Synthex, Oberheim OB-X and Matrix 1000, Korg PS-3100. Tube synths included the Hammond Novachord, a Jennings Univox J6 and a heavily modified Cordovox CG-1.
