SRDrums comprises 561 samples, divided into 5 kits:
Dry: Mixed with simple eq and compression, no special processing, for a clean, punchy sound.
Cst: All samples were recorded to cassette via my trusty Technics RS-B16 deck. This gives them a more trashy punch, particularly in the cymbals.
R2R: All samples were run through my dying Sony TC-352D reel to reel which gives them an even more trashy, punchy, destroyed sound.
HSW: All samples were recorded at double tempo, an octave up, onto my Sony TCM-40DV walkman, then recorded back at half speed, bringing the samples to their original pitch and tempo... sort of. Very lo-fi sound, not a lot of bottom end but heaps of character. This is a mono kit.
WMO: This is an expanded version of the WMO kit from Drums for TAL Sampler, which was my attempt at a ‘One mic’ style drum kit. All samples were taken from the snare mic recording, except the snare samples, which were taken from the kick mic. Great for neo-soul and breakbeat style drums. This is also a mono kit.
Each kit consists of 4 round robins per drum/cymbal, and in some cases, multiple keys (2 kicks, snares etc) which increases the round robins to 8.
