Tubechild670 brings you the true sound of the golden age of rock'n'roll. Not only a studio legend but an expensive collector's item, the hardware original is found on more records you can listen to in a few lifetimes. Found on anything from The Beatles, Pink Floyd, and Motown to modern-day pop, rock, and metal, Fairchild 670 has been an essential tool for over 70 years now and we made sure it’s here to stay.
We deconstructed a well-preserved unit and deconstructed it to its bare bones. We measured every single component from its 20 carefully matched valves and 14 vintage transformers, we paid meticulous attention to all unique non-linear relationships of the unit’s internals. Each of those components was recreated digitally allowing us to turn Tubechild670 into the most faithful and accurate modern recreation of a vintage classic. Just like the hardware original, our model lets you accumulate the 670 vintage mojo by running your signal through every single valve and transformer.
Developed by American inventor Rein Narma, Fairchild 670 was designed to provide maximum level control and allow studio engineers to overcome hiss, audio artifacts, and low volume levels and achieve clean and pristine natural sound instead. For almost a decade after it was first introduced the 670 was used mainly as a limiter for broadcasting and cutting vinyl. Then some of the units made their way to Abbey Road and were used for sculpting the iconic sound of The Beatles. The rest is history.
The delta-mu compressor has become the weapon of choice for many pros because of its unparalleled character, thickness, and natural warmth. The unit can glue a mix together and firmly grip transients. It can level any source material with lush and organic compression.
