Electric Taishogoto for Soundbox

Electric Taishogoto for Audiomodern’s Soundbox features a virtual instrument based on the traditional japanese instrument "Taishogoto", also known as the "Nagoya Harp". The version recorded for this Soundbox instrument is an original electric Sporano Taishogoto made in Japan in the early 1990s.

The instrument features meticulously sampled recordings of the DI signal with 2-4 velocity layers per patch in the strummed version. There are also two different velocities for key presses (as the taishogoto can be played with pressing the keys only), capturing subtle variations in mechanical clicking on the attack and the overall sound. And you will get some sounds of a bowed taishogoto, too.

The raw recordings were processed using a selection of vintage and boutique gear to give the instrument a distinctive character. Flavors like preamp overdrive or distortion and even a damaged character, with authentic grit and noise are provided in the patches. All processing is done with real hardware units (except the internal fx in soundbox for some of the patches), no FX software or emulations have been used. This processing includes effects such as a broken Tape Delay from the 1980s, various distortion pedals, vintage 90s rack guitar FX units and some lofi pedals, all of which contribute to the unique tonal qualities of the Electric Taishogoto.
