Product Overview

A collection of ten sophisticated effects with support for surround formats up to 7.1. Perfect for adding the finishing touches to your regular projects or for building wild, experimental quadraphonic effect chains… Whether you need subtle nuance or strong impact, Uhbik has you covered!

MIXING AND FILTERING

Ubhik Compressor
In the role of a generic compressor, Uhbik Compressor does a fine job bringing level fluctuations under control or delivering compact, dense, breathing compression. But there’s more: Uhbik Compressor actually combines two compressors in series—a standard downward compressor for controlling peaks plus a gentle upward compressor (Inflation) feature that carefully enhances low-level detail.

Uhbik Compressor also offers two different detection modes: feed-forward is for precise, modern control, while feed-back delivers vintage response with a natural character but limited compression range.

Uhbik Runciter: Distorting filter
Filters are THE classic tools for shaping sound-sculpting frequencies, adding resonance, and bringing tonal movement into your mix. But with its powerful distortion circuitry, Uhbik Runciter goes way beyond the standard state-variable filter. It packs some serious sonic character!

Control the cutoff frequency manually or automate it via the built-in envelope follower, or connect a MIDI foot pedal and perform expressive fuzz/wah effects.

The distortion section ranges from subtle saturation to audio mayhem. Experiment freely… but watch your speakers.

Uhbik EQ: Semi-parametric equalizer
Uhbik EQ takes a streamlined approach: Maximum flexibility with an absolute minimum of controls, maximum audio quality with low CPU usage, tweakability supported by smart automatic behaviour.

The two semi-parametric bands have switchable shelf and bell curves; change the frequency and the Q-factor is automatically adjusted for you. There are two additional filters for high and low cut, and a dedicated low-shelf filter for optimizing bass frequencies.

GRAINS AND PITCHES

Uhbik Grainshift
Grainshift slices incoming audio into small “grains” of adjustable size, then replays them at variable speeds. By manipulating these grains, you can achieve everything from subtle doubling effects to wildly alien textures—or even create backward effects by setting negative playback speeds.

Grainshift’s second operating mode, the FFT-based Phase Vocoder, shifts pitch by time-stretching/compressing the audio. Try this on vocals for eerie to downright hilarious results!

Uhbik Shifter
Unlike the technically related Ring Modulation effect, frequency shifters output a single sideband offset by a constant value. Although similar to chorus or phasing, the Shifter doesn’t require an LFO—the effect is a continuous smooth “barber pole”, an almost psychedelic spatial effect that can be synchronized to song tempo.

Even with all dials set to full frequency freak-out, the Uhbik Shifter never compromises audio quality: Care was taken to minimize the side-effects commonly associated with frequency shifters.

MODULATION

Ubhik Flanger
The classic “whoosh” of through zero flanging, created by simulating two tape machines per audio channel, one of which is slowed down slightly.

Additional parameters such as Drive, the highpass filter, and positive or negative feedback let you fine-tune the tone and resonance, giving you everything from smooth motion to intensely swirling effects.

Uhbik Phaser
Another studio staple, the classic phaser adds dynamic, shifting colour to any sound. With up to 42 all-pass filters, Uhbik Phaser delivers exceptionally rich and dramatic movement—supporting everything from stereo to full quadraphonic or 7.1 surround. Its resonant peaks glide across the spectrum, with feedback adding anything from silky, shimmering motion to sharp, metallic edge…

A tweak or two can turn Uhbik Phaser into a true metal monster: New frequencies are created that were not present in the original signal.

Uhbik Tremolo
Tremolo in its simplest form is variation in volume, an LFO modulating amplitude. Uhbik Tremolo goes beyond basic “volume wobbling” into multi-purpose rhythm creation. The LFO can affect three parameters in parallel: volume, filter cutoff and stereo (or surround) position.

You can use the regular LFO for some interesting synchronized effects, but the real fun starts when you apply the 16-step user-definable patterns!

SHARED FEATURES

Surround Processing
Uhbik can handle up to 8 channels surround, including e.g. quadraphony, 5.1 and 7.1. When applied to multichannel tracks, the channel offset parameter in the Flanger, Phaser, Grainshift and Tremolo spans all active channels—for dramatic effects that rotate around your head. Even the Delay’s panning controls are not simply stereophonic—they pan across all active channels.

Matrix
The 8-slot modulation matrix is used for adding motion by assigning modulation sources (MIDI, LFO, Envelope, Mapper) to any continuous controls on the panel. Modulation matrix assignments can be created very comfortably via drag & drop, then modified within the matrix slot in various ways.

Scope
Uhbik’s built-in oscilloscope is an essential visual aid for crafting rhythmic effects. You can view the audio output and/or up to four modulation signals at the same time—including the output of a modulation matrix slot—in any combination.

Mapper
The “Mapper” modulation source is a table that can hold up to 128 values between −100.00 and +100.00. How these values are interpreted depends on the selected Mode: MIDI notes, mapped modulation sources, triggered increments…

Envelope
Similar to the function generators seen in modern modular synthesizers, Uhbik’s envelope is a very flexible modulation source indeed. It can serve as an envelope follower, reacting to dynamics in the audio material, or can be triggered by audio signals or by any of the available modulation sources.

LFOs
A multi-waveform, general purpose low frequency oscillator you can use for any cyclic modulation, for Sample & Hold triggering, or as a source for the Mapper. The three cyclic effects (Flanger, Phaser and Tremolo) include another LFO hardwired to the main ‘character’ parameter of each effect.

SPACES AND ECHOES

Uhbik Ambience
Good reverb is seldom conspicuous, but when it is not there you always notice that something is missing. Uhbik Ambience combines plate reverb and early reflections, with full control over each part. Sometimes you will want a subtle touch of ambience, at other times a trip to outer space…

Uhbik Ambience’s four operation modes are designed for different reverb styles. All four share common controls that determine the spaciousness and feel. Bass and Treble shape the reflections, mimicking the absorptive properties of natural environments. Add subtle space and texture, or blend sounds together into warm clouds.

Uhbik Delay
Drawing inspiration from classic tape echo units, Uhbik Delay’s five taps (virtual playback heads) deliver vintage-style delay infused with modern digital flexibility.

Like its analogue predecessors, Uhbik Delay features adjustable delay time (tape speed), and feedback. A pair of filters and the modulation options let you shape the sound from subtle motion to rich, evolving textures.

Freed from the limitations of physical tape, Uhbik Delay goes further: Adjust the position of each tap to create ultra-short delays, intricate rhythmic feedback patterns, or immersive surround-sound effects.
