KR-55
WaveShaperWith its plastic beige enclosure design, the Korg KR-55 looks like a late 70s' nerd wet dream.
Every single sound from this 1979 preset drum machine is just perfect : snappy snare, punchy bass drum, electronic hi hats and exotic percussions with a retro flavour.
Heavily used by early electro bands like Depeche Mode, its raw sound just fit in any mix and any genre.
This sample pack features 7 kits, all true to the KR55's own sound, but recorded in various ways :
– There is of course a very clean and transparent kit, as well as 2 others with some subtle coloration from a vintage mixer and a tube compressor. I recorded them at various compression, gain and eq settings and made several takes of each sound in order to get some subtle variations that your round-robin soft sampler will love !
– 2 kits make some good use of spring reverb and analogue delay for a more retro vibe ;
– 2 more dirty kits are processed through a custom chain of rare analogue FX pedals, a tube preamp and a vintage eq to keep the analogue vibe on the full recording chain .
– The pro packs gathers 142 one-shot samples, gathered into 7 kits. All samples are in WAV, 24bit 48khz stereo format.
– The free pack contains 11 one-shot sounds taken from the "Boost" kit (with no variation and a couple of percussion samples missing) in 16bit, 44,1khz mono.
