The raw oscillator samples made to create the instrument are included as a sample pack, designed for dropping into your own samplers. features 100 tonal samples and 100 noisy textures, all designed from the ground up using analog and digital synthesis.
SIGNA takes its name from the Latin signa – meaning “signs” or “signals.” In older Latin astronomy and cosmology, signa referred to the star-signs: celestial patterns once used for navigation, divination, and interpretation.
The instrument echoes that idea: a collection of drifting signals and tonal constellations, each shifting with subtle movement, guiding the listener through evolving sonic space.
Unique to SIGNA is a rescan control. This single button rescans the sound sources across all three layers. With one click, the tonal and textural layers are replaced with new combinations (of which there can be up to a million different combinations) from the full library of 200 samples, instantly revealing new sonic pairings. Your filters, envelopes, and modulation settings remain untouched, preserving your sound design while refreshing the core tone. It’s an effortless way to explore new textures without losing the core shape of your sound.
SIGNA’s movement is driven by a set of smoothed random modulators inspired by tape and modular synthesis. These subtle fluctuations in pan and volume give each layer a sense of organic motion. The controls let you shape the intensity and pace of this movement, from deep and slow undulation to a more subtle, unpredictable flux inspired by tape flutter. A dedicated Pitch Drift control brings a touch of instability to the pitch of the tonal layers, adding warmth, imperfection, and the nostalgic sway of worn tape.
At the core of SIGNA are 3 layers, represented visually as 3 rectangles, two tonal and one textural. The tonal layers draw from a new collection of 100 recorded synthesizer waveforms, while the textural layer contains 100 original noise-based recordings. Each sound has been shaped around the concept of unique transmission signals, giving every element a sense of motion and identity. When combined within the SIGNA engine, these layers interact organically to form evolving ambient tones and deeply expressive pads, rich with subtle detail and effortless depth.
